Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Announced During Pokémon Day Presentation

The next mainline entries in the long running series are coming to Nintendo Switch “Late” 2022!

The Pokémon series has been making quite a splash on the Nintendo Switch with the release of remakes Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl and more recently the spin-off Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and The Pokémon Company wants to maintain that momentum well into 2022 with today’s big announcement during the Pokémon Day Presentation: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, the next mainline entries in the series will be heading to the Switch later this year!

The Pokémon Company dropped a 3 minute trailer (above) for these new entries that showcased new locales based on many of Spain’s iconic points of interest, Scarlet & Violet’s starters (see below), and the biggest piece of news…that Scarlet & Violet would be a completely free roaming experience! According to The Pokémon Company that means Scarlet & Violet will feature an open world where “various towns blend seamlessly into the wilderness with no borders” and wild Pokémon can be encountered “in the skies, in the seas, in the forests, on the streets—all over!”
