New Features For Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl

The remakes of the Nintendo DS’ Pokémon Diamond and Pearl are getting a few new additions in the form of battle customizations and player cosmetics. Collect stickers over the course of your adventure and place them on Pokéballs to add custom flare to your battle intros, and shop at various clothing stores in game to make sure your trainer is dressed the best like no one ever was.

The Sinnoh Underground returns in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl with a brand new feature, Pokémon Hideaways. Information was limited on these new areas of the Underground but the Present did reveal that the statues you place in your personal Secret Base will influence the types of Pokémon you’ll encounter in them, and that certain Sinnoh Pokémon can be found ONLY in hideaways. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl hit the Nintendo Switch on November 19th, 2021.

The Switch Lite is reminiscent of the special edition Onyx DS Lite that launched along side the original Diamond and Pearl back in 2006. The Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl Switch Lite will launch on November 5th. Information on pre-orders will be provided in the near future on Nitnendo’s website so stay tuned!

Complete The Very First Pokédex In Pokémon Legends: Arceus

The next entry in the Pokémon series features a blend of action, adventure, and RPG elements as you’re tasked with surveying the Hisui Region and its native Pokémon to complete the first Pokédex. As a member of the Galaxy Expedition Team’s Survey Corp. you’ll embark on survey outings to research Pokémon and their behavior through observation in both the wild and in combat. Players will need to stay on their toes to avoid danger, and purchase and craft supplies at remote base camps in order to survive their encounters. Pokémon battles in Legends: Arceus will also introduce new “Strong” and “Agile” style moves for an added layer of strategy to dominate the flow of battle.

Two brand new Pokémon native to Hisui were introduced: Wyrdeer, a Stantler evolved to live in the bitterly cold and rugged region of Hisui, and Basculegion, a Basculin “possessed by the souls” of other Basculin that perished in their journey upstream. Along with these new additions some existing Pokémon are returning to Legends: Arceus in new forms including a Growlithe very reminiscent of the Japanese Komainu and a brilliantly frocked Braviary.

Also on display during the Presents were Pokémon riding mechanics similar to those found in Sun and Moon. Players will be able to explore the Hisui region gliding across the water on a Basculegion, galloping along the plains on a Wyrdeer, and soaring through the skies on a Braviary. No word on if other Hisui Pokémon will be incorporated into this mechanic but it will definitely make surveying the vast and open map a breeze. Pokémon Legends: Arceus will hit the Nintendo Switch on January 22nd, 2022.

Pokémon Home Support Is Expanding

The last bit of news from today’s Pokémon Presents was that support for Pokémon Home will be coming to all three titles. Players will be able to store, trade, and transfer Pokémon caught in Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl, and Legends: Arceus sometime in early 2022!
